-Alejandro Reyes a obtenu son doctorat en bio-informatique dans le laboratoire du professeur Gordon à l’école de médecine de l’Université de Washington à St-Louis, où il a publié des travaux fondamentaux sur les bactériophages du microbiote intestinal humain, dont son article dans Nature intitulé « Metagenomic analysis of viruses in the fecal microbiota of monozygotic twins and their mothers ». À la suite de son doctorat, il a ouvert son propre laboratoire de recherche à la Universidad de los Andes en Colombie, où il fait usage de bio-informatique appliquée afin de développer des outils omiques (e.g. génomique, transcriptomique,​ métabolomique) permettant de caractériser les communautés microbiennes ainsi que leurs interactions avec l’environnement.  +

-Alejandro Reyes got his phD in computational biology from the Gordon Lab at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he published foundational research on bacteriophages in the human gut microbiota, such as his Nature paper “Metagenomic analysis of viruses in the fecal microbiota of monozygotic twins and their mothers”. He is currently an assistant professor at Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, where he is using computational biology to develop tools from -omic studies (genomic, transcriptomic,​ metabolomic,​ etc.) for the characterization of microbial communities and their interactions with the environment.  +
